The company is offering a total of $3.14159 million in cash rewards. That's a nod to pi, math's most intriguing irrational number, and to the added challenges that come with cracking Google's ever-improving security measures. It's unlikely that any single hacker will get the whole pi. Instead, many contestants could win $110,000 for each temporary compromise of Chrome OS, or $150,000 for each compromise that survives a system reboot. Η Google ανακοίνωσε, ότι θα διοργανώσει και φέτος διαγωνισμό για χάκερς με έπαθλο 2,7 εκατ. δολάρια.

Οι χάκερς, που θα κατορθώσουν να «παραβιάσουν» την ασφάλεια του νέου λειτουργικού συστήματος “Chrome OS”, είτε μόνοι τους είτε ως ομάδα, θα λάβουν βραβείο ύψους 110.000 δολαρίων.

Επιπλέον, όσοι χάκερς μπορέσουν να διατηρήσουν τον έλεγχο των Chromebooks υπολογιστών τους μετά την επανεκκίνηση θα απολαύσουν έξτρα βραβεία.

Όπως αναφέρεται στην ηλεκτρονική ιστοσελίδα του διαγωνισμού Pwnium, φέτος θα είναι η πρώτη φορά που οι χάκερς θα μπορούν να επιλέξουν τον επεξεργαστή που θα είναι ενσωματωμένος στον ηλεκτρονικό υπολογιστή που θα χρησιμοποιήσουν. Ο επεξεργαστής θα είναι είτε ARM είτε Intel.

Όσοι ενδιαφέρονται να συμμετέχουν δεν έχουν παρά να ακολουθήσουν τον ηλεκτρονικό σύνδεσμο http://www.chromium.org/Home/chromium-security/pwnium-4 όπου αναφέρονται οι κανόνες του διαγωνισμού.

Η εκδήλωση της Google θα γίνει φέτος στις 12 Μαρτίου στο Βανκούβερ του Καναδά.
