Βασισμένο στην αληθινή ιστορία της ανασκαφής του τάφου του Τουταγχαμόν το 1921 από τον αρχαιολόγο Χάουαρντ Κάρτερ και τους θησαυρούς που ανακάλυψε στην ασύλητη πυραμίδα που τον φιλοξενούσε, η σειρά του Γκάι Μπερτ, φιλοδοξεί να γεμίσει το κενό που άφησε στους θεατές το τέλος του «Downton Abbey».
Διότι μπορεί στο κέντρο της να βρίσκεται μια ανασκαφή, αλλά η σειρά ασχολείται εξίσου με την σχέση του Κάρτερ με τον άνθρωπο που χρηματοδότησε την αποστολή του τον Λόρδο (είδατε;) Κάρναρβον, και με την κόρη του Εβελιν.
